About Nutrition for Surgery
Nutrition for Surgery was started by Professor Sandip Hindocha, a consultant plastic, reconstructive and hand surgeon, to answer a question patients kept asking: what should I eat before and after my operation?

Meet the founder
Professor Hindocha is a consultant plastic, reconstructive and hand surgeon on the GMC Specialist Register. Nutrition for Surgery grew out of his own operating list, where the same question kept coming up before every procedure: what should a patient actually be eating in the weeks either side of surgery?
There was no clear answer, only general advice to eat well and rest. So he set out to build something more specific, a food supplement designed for exactly that window rather than a generic protein shake repurposed for the job.
Professor Hindocha created Nutrition for Surgery and has a financial interest in it, which he discloses here in line with his professional obligations as a doctor.
Before every procedure, patients asked what they should be eating in the weeks either side of surgery.
There was only general advice to eat well and rest, with nothing designed for the window around an operation.
He worked with a nutrition laboratory to formulate the shakes, rather than mixing a formula in-house.
SurgiFuel™ Pre-Op is for the two weeks before surgery and SurgiFuel™ Post-Op is for the two weeks after.
The people and standards
So every part of Nutrition for Surgery has a name, a standard and a reason behind it. You can check the main one yourself.

SurgiFuel™ is formulated with a nutrition laboratory, the same kind of partner used for regulated food products, rather than blended by hand in a back room.
That is also why it is described as a food supplement, not a medicine. It sits alongside whatever your surgical team has told you to do around your operation. It never replaces it.

Said plainly
Three things we want you to know before you buy.
SurgiFuel™ is a food supplement, not a medicine. It is not a substitute for a varied diet.
It sits beside your surgical team's advice, especially on fasting before your operation. It never replaces it.
Professor Hindocha created Nutrition for Surgery and has a financial interest in it. We say so wherever he appears.
Why SurgiFuel™
Not a celebrity range with a surgeon's name licensed onto it. Here is what led to the two shakes.
Before every operation, the same question came up with no good answer: what should a patient actually be eating in the weeks either side of surgery.
A pre-op body and a post-op body need different things, so we made two shakes, not one generic protein blend asked to do both.
We worked with a nutrition laboratory rather than mixing a formula in-house, so every batch is formulated to the same brief.
SurgiFuel™ is made in the UK, from a formula developed by a surgeon who stands behind it.
