How we write the Journal

Four promises behind every guide

Surgery is a big moment, so we keep the Journal careful, plain and honest.

01

A surgeon involved

Professor Hindocha, a consultant surgeon on the GMC Specialist Register, works with our team. Articles he has reviewed say so.

02

Backed by a nutrition lab

Our shakes are formulated with a nutrition laboratory, not mixed up in-house.

03

Your surgical team first

We never replace the advice you are given. Always follow your team's instructions, especially on fasting.

04

Open about our interest

Professor Hindocha has a financial interest in Nutrition for Surgery, and we say so wherever he appears.

About the Journal

Who writes the SurgiFuel™ Journal?

The Journal is written by the Nutrition for Surgery team. Professor Sandip Hindocha, a consultant plastic, reconstructive and hand surgeon on the GMC Specialist Register, founded Nutrition for Surgery and works with the team. Not every article is reviewed by him; those that are say so. Read our editorial policy.

Is the Journal medical advice?

No. It gives general information about nutrition around surgery. It does not replace advice from your surgical team, dietitian or GP, so always follow their instructions.

Does Nutrition for Surgery sell the products it writes about?

Yes. The Journal mentions SurgiFuel™ food supplements, and Professor Hindocha has a financial interest in Nutrition for Surgery. We say so wherever he appears.

How often is the Journal updated?

We add new guides as they are ready, and show the date on every article.

Not sure which shake you need?

It comes down to timing. SurgiFuel™ Pre-Op is for the two weeks before your operation, and Post-Op is for the two weeks after.

Compare both shakes

SurgiFuel™ shakes are food supplements. They are not a substitute for a varied diet, and this Journal is not medical advice. Always follow the guidance of your surgical team.
